This is the chart for the recent 8.8 magnitude earthquake off the coast of Chile near Talca.

The force of this earthquake has had a devastating effect on the country with a death toll of 700 and rising. The devastation is mainly due to the collapse of buildings and the effects of the tsunami. The President has declared a “State of Catastrophe”, and it will take many years for the Chileans to clean up after this natural disaster.

This is not the first time Chile has endured a strong earthquake. In 1960, a 9.5 magnitude quake, the largest ever recorded, killed 1,655 people and left 2 million homeless. Unfortunately, this quake is likely to end up with a similar tally.

What does the chart say about this quake?

What strikes me immediately is the Nodal axis on the horizon and Saturn conjunct the Midheaven. The Nodes herald a shift of energy, which always involves and affects people. Shift of energy indeed - how about the violent shaking and moving of the earth! Ruler of the chart Saturn, the greater malefic, often referred to as the grim reaper, rules foundations, structures and the physical world. And the lesser malefic, Mars, planet of energy, action, and aggression, was sextile to Saturn, ready to offer assistance. According to Ebertin, Mars-Saturn connections manifest as harmful or destructive energy.

To top it off, Venus is sextile the North Node, and my colleague Murray Beauchamp has observed that Venus is regularly involved in earthquakes. In the recent Haiti quake, Venus was combust and conjunct the North Node, and again the Nodes were close to the horizon. In fact the Nodes regularly feature on the angles of earthquake charts, including the Great Alaskan quake of 1964 and the 2004 Boxing Day Tsunami.

After their awkwardly handled lie-detector segment, Kyle and Jackie will return to radio next week. Does the chart for their return have a message?

The show starts at 6am giving the chart a 14 degree Leo ascendant. The Sabian symbol for this degree reads “Cherub-like, a human soul whispers, seeking to manifest.” What does it mean - the soul in it’s innocence tries to express itself through the personality. In Kyle’s case, he naively asked an inappropriate question that resulted in the radio show being temporarily withdrawn. Then he was dumped from Australian Idol but now he returns to his usual radio show. The ascendant ruler of this chart, the Sun, is at 26 Leo, “After the heavy storm a perfect rainbow forms.” This second symbol is self explanatory. So despite his naivety, they will return and everything will be alright, perhaps more than alright (pot ‘o gold at the end of the rainbow?).

It is no surprise to anyone that pornography is not condoned by the majority and is in fact abhorred by the majority. Intimacy, sensual closeness, consentual physical engagement - all these things are what most people aspire to. BUT - no one, in their right mind, wants to be preyed upon by another person against their will. Pornography is about being preyed upon against one’s will.

And so - pornography persists. Being preyed upon against one’s will. And those who would like to take control of our will are using the ‘pornography excuse’ to shut the internet down.

WHY?

Because - they do not want us to have a voice - to share that voice - to think for ourselves- to act for ourselves - to oppose their will - to express our will - to BE individuals in the true sense - ie. to act free from outside influence but in accordance with humane principals.

SO - it is up to each evolved individual to express their will, and to expose the truth for the betterment of humanity, in spite of the those who would oppose and block our desire for a pure and inspired life that is in line with creative and honest principles - ie. not pornographic or controlling over another.

We are under the spell of a triple conjunction between Jupiter, Neptune and Chiron. It comes as no real surprise to me that there continues to be GREAT deception afoot.

Neptune = fantasy, deception, dreams
Jupiter = excess, exaggeration, generosity
Chiron = teacher of heroes, healer of suffering, maverick

As I predicted last year, Peter Costello has finally announced his departure from politics. I made the observation that he should leave by the end of November, so why has he taken so long? Mr. Costello has a Sun-Pluto aspect that gives him a strong desire for recognition, as well as making him relatively stubborn and slow to change. Both he and John Howard are proud, stubborn, regal Leos – Howard wouldn’t let go and Costello wouldn’t contest the leadership. Most likely, had the leadership been handed to Costello in 2006 he would have won the election for the Liberals, but of course we’ll never know.

After the last election, Costello stayed on as a back-bencher, perhaps waiting for recognition that never materialised. But recent eclipses in January and February have brought the realisation that change was needed, and that it was time to start anew.
