Abbotsford Convent, Melbourne. Friday 19th to Sunday 21st June 2009
Melbourne recently played host to a unique seminar on ancient and medieval astrology delivered by the Belgian scholar, Dr. David Juste. He currently has a Fellowship at the University of Sydney (1) but he really came to Australia for love – that of an Australian girl and to continue the research of his first love, astrology. David’s mother introduced him to astrology in his teens and he took to it like a duck to water. Some 15 years later he stopped practising astrology to become an Historian. His BA thesis was on astrology in the Middle Ages, his MA thesis was titled “The Study of Medieval Astrology: Achievements and Outlook, and his PhD explored ancient astrological techniques. Currently David Juste has taken up the mammoth task of cataloguing all the Latin medieval astrological manuscripts scattered around the globe, perhaps 10,000 in total. Read the rest of this entry »
Last year in Melbourne we witnessed the arrival of a unique TV show dedicated to astrology. It’s name was Cosmic Imprint and it was really good. This year the show is back with a new name, “Julie Ann’s Astrology Today”, and a new format. If you have even the slightest interest in astrology this is a great show to watch. It’s filled with information about astrology as well as the astrology of people we know. And then there’s the new Astro Panel format where a live person gets a reading from both Julie Ann and a guest astrologer. On Episode 3 below you will see me, Nikki Worth, working alongside Julie Ann to give Scott from the C31 program Yartz a mini reading. It gives you some idea of what it’s like to have a consultation with an astrologer.

It takes a few minutes to get going so make yourself a cup of tea
The solstice point in June marks the height of summer in the northern hemisphere and the depths of winter in the south. At the tropic of Cancer, the Sun reaches its highest point in the sky and the hours of daylight dominate. Conversely, in the southern hemisphere, the Sun is low in the sky, the days are short and the nights are long. At the June solstice, the Sun reaches the tropic of Cancer and ‘rests’ at the same point in the sky for three days. It then does an about-face and heads in the opposite direction from whence it came. The yearly cycles of night and day, dark and light, is what creates the changing seasons and fertility on Earth. Read the rest of this entry »
Peter Costello’s recent announcement (that he will not nominate for re-election as the Member for Higgins) has lain to rest speculation about his future in politics. So what’s next for Mr. Costello?
Peter Costello, born 14 August 1957, Melbourne. Birth time unknown. Sun sign: Leo
As I predicted last year, Peter Costello has finally announced his departure from politics. I made the observation that he should leave by the end of November, so why has he taken so long? Mr. Costello has a Sun-Pluto aspect that gives him a strong desire for recognition, as well as making him relatively stubborn and slow to change. Both he and John Howard are proud, stubborn, regal Leos – Howard wouldn’t let go and Costello wouldn’t contest the leadership. Most likely, had the leadership been handed to Costello in 2006 he would have won the election for the Liberals, but of course we’ll never know.
After the last election, Costello stayed on as a back-bencher, perhaps waiting for recognition that never materialised. But recent eclipses in January and February have brought the realisation that change was needed, and that it was time to start anew.
How will he choose to use his talents now? Read the rest of this entry »
Never before, in the common era, have we experienced a Jupiter-Neptune-Chiron conjunction. What might it mean?
… the wise and gentle centaur meets two kings – the king of the gods and the king of the sea …
The spiritual shaman delivers a generous dose of inspired healing … the deluded maverick succumbs to an overwhelming feeling of pain … the philosophical mystic speculates on the theory of alchemical chaos …
and what of the 27th degree of Aquarius – “An Ancient Pottery Bowl Filled With Fresh Violets” – traditional values of modesty and humility
