Cancer Ingress

constellations
The solstice point in June marks the height of summer in the northern hemisphere and the depths of winter in the south. At the tropic of Cancer, the Sun reaches its highest point in the sky and the hours of daylight dominate. Conversely, in the southern hemisphere, the Sun is low in the sky, the days are short and the nights are long. At the June solstice, the Sun reaches the tropic of Cancer and ‘rests’ at the same point in the sky for three days. It then does an about-face and heads in the opposite direction from whence it came. The yearly cycles of night and day, dark and light, is what creates the changing seasons and fertility on Earth.

These extremes of daylight are amplified by Pluto in a tight opposition to the Sun, and closing. For some time now, Pluto has figured prominently in the cardinal ingresses, and this one is no exception. When Pluto is in Capricorn the underworld is exposed to the outer world, and opposed by the Sun in Cancer the very foundation of our existence is in the spotlight. Security vs. tradition, family vs. business, private vs. public – all of these themes are highlighted, challenged and forced to change. Many companies will close their doors, unable to continue trading without a solid foundation under them. We’ve seen a lot of that already but we will see a lot more, as well as downsizing and internal restructuring. Companies who have had the foresight and developed long-range plans are more likely to withstand the current global downturn. Some larger businesses will swell to gargantuan proportions creating super-corporations. Unfortunately, they will swallow up family-run and small businesses and we will these super-corporations fast becoming the new ‘family’ structure.

So we are at yet another crisis point, but crisis activates change and a call to action. Mars stand to attention when action is required. And while Mars is in detriment in the sign of Taurus it will never give up. So a Taurean Mars will persevere long after the last man is standing. In Taurus, Mars has an indomitable will, is determined, overtly stubborn and will be the inevitable winner if employed wisely. In excess, this Mars becomes a hard-nosed bully. Mars is ruled by Venus who is also in Taurus, so she will support him well. This Venus is resourceful and Mars can depend on her to come up with the goods. The combination of Venus and Mars in Taurus suggests the market will do well this quarter, and even though its rise may be slow it will be steady. Certainly Saturn will make sure the figures are clean and practices above board. There is good reason to feel hopeful but the return to economic growth will be slow and painful.

The mood is unsettled, nervous and changeable with the Moon in Gemini. It also indicates that the populace are in two minds about the global situation. Mercury joins the Moon offering thoughts and ideas and, through heightened perception, a semblance of clarity – plus Mercury in Gemini is quick off the mark and lightens the mood. So it’s not all doom and gloom but don’t believe all you hear because what rings true for some will not pan out for all. Plus, although the Moon and Mercury are together they are operating alone, like voices in the wilderness, seldom heard and rarely answered.

Early July there is a lunar eclipse that exactly aspects Saturn, Venus and Mars to create a Grand Trine. The mood alters from hopeful to doubtful and takes on a dark seriousness driven by an underlying lack of confidence. It is easy to be swept up by such a mood. The best way to handle this energy is to move slowly, cautiously, deliberately and with careful consideration. Take all factors into consideration before making any decisions. Just when we thought the economy was improving it will fall bringing with it a wave of depression. Deep, dark, and mysterious indeed but in the dark we have no choice but to reflect inwardly, to reassess and ready ourselves for the new dawn. Which will come but who knows when? Be ready and you will reap the benefits, in time.

Finally, we must address the Jupiter-Neptune-Chiron conjunction, a clear signature of a pandemic, likely to emerge late this year with the onset of the Northern Hemisphere winter. We are due for a pandemic and with widespread global travel such a pandemic is likely to spread suddenly and swiftly. It may not be Swine Flu but more likely a mutation that spreads quickly and kills with equal swiftness. It will require the global co-operation of medical institutions to do research and find a cure. The long-term outcome will be new bonds formed between many countries that will need to share information and expertise in order to beat the disease. Global economic concern will pale next to the global concern for the health and welfare of all citizens. If there was ever a need to practise global intention it is right now. We can improve conditions by sending waves of love and light to the planet and those in need. Spread the word about what’s needed to keep our minds, hearts and actions healthy and in line with natural law.

The triple conjunction offers healing and spiritual understanding on a global scale. Through the use of group intention we can positively effect and partially counter the negative influences. As a teacher of heroes Chiron fosters courage and leadership, Neptune inspires us to live out our dreams, and Jupiter, king of the gods, amplifies the effects. Our collective dreams of peace and prosperity for the whole world need to verbalised and implemented. We have a long way to go but through perseverance we can move forward.

Above all things do not believe what you hear or see – investigate until you get to the truth. The triple conjunction brings a high level of deception and there are people and events that seem too good to be true (and they probably are).
