Greetings to you all
The Sun is currently in Cancer
21st June to 23rd July 2010

Cancerians are deeply sensitive with a tough outer shell to protect their vulnerable side. Without the shell you would surely perish, eaten alive by the scavengers and insensitives of the world. They are easily bruised and suffer from mood swings that others may find irrational and slightly neurotic. This does not mean that you are unable to survive in the outer world. On the contrary, you are driven by the need for comfort, security and safety so you are very shrewd and wiley. Never be fooled by the soft, moody Cancerian for they have sharp claws that can cut you off and out of the game. If, on the other hand, you are on their good side, they are the most gentle and caring people to have with you. The crab is the zodiac's nurturer, the mother who unconditionally cares for her loved ones. And they never forget a kindness - they have the memory of an elephant - and will repay you in kind. Once slighted you will fall from their favour, and perhaps become fodder if you really overstep the mark. Upsetting their home environment would be the most painful and unforgiveable act for their home is their castle. This is where they find solace from the harsh outside world and allow their emotions to subside.
The Moon is the Ruling Planet
The Moon represents our emotional nature, feelings and gut reactions, how we perceive life and respond to stimuli, and our deepest needs and fears. It is fluid, receptive, internal, dependent, sentimental and instinctive. It holds memories, is impressionable, and refers to the past (where it tempts us to remain). Just as the Moon affects the oceans and tides every day, its relative speed reflects the rapid changes of human emotion. As a satellite of the Earth, it is dependent on that planet for its stability and life cycle. The moon phases are dependent on the Sun. It's changing face and monthly cycle around the Earth reminds us of the cyclic nature of life, of growth and decay. Quite literally, the Moon reflects the light of the Sun, softly lighting up the sky and the planet's surface at night, acting as a mirror of the core self; it is the feminine, reflective form of the masculine expression. In the birth chart, the relationship of the Sun to the Moon indicates the extent to which an individual's will and behaviour (Sun) harmonises or conflicts with his or her emotions, situation and environment (Moon). The Moon sign describes the way we are nurtured and grow to be nurturers, our style of loving, caring and nurturing others, as well as the kind of nurturing we need from those who care for us. The Moon is our 'inner child', which needs to be loved, fed and cared for. Therefore, the mother-child relationship is lunar in essence.
The 4th House is the associated domain
In this house, we build a fine nest full of creature comforts and special people. This is the most vulnerable house in the chart and planets here describe how you are at home, what your childhood home was like for you and what your security needs are. It also reveals your emotional weak spots and triggers; like the crab, it doesn't pay to attack someone at this level for they will revert to survival mode and their defences are incredibly strong and powerful. The family of origin is rooted here, so this is where you find parents, father, family inherited characteristics (especially on the father's side), heritage, ancestry, and traditional attitudes passed on consciously or unconsciously. Life begins and ends with this house, so it is the house of old age, grandparents, the process of death and funerals. On a mundane level, this house rules hidden treasures of the earth, mining, real estate, agriculture and farming, nationalism, patriotism and history.
There are many famous Cancerians

Cancer Ingress - Celestial Indications
21st June to 22nd September 2009
The solstice point in June marks the height of summer in the northern hemisphere and the depths of winter in the south. At the tropic of Cancer, the Sun reaches its highest point in the sky and the hours of daylight dominate. Conversely, in the southern hemisphere, the Sun is low in the sky, the days are short and the nights are long. At the June solstice, the Sun reaches the tropic of Cancer and 'rests' at the same point in the sky for three days. It then does an about-face and heads in the opposite direction from whence it came. The yearly cycles of night and day, dark and light, is what creates the changing seasons and fertility on Earth.
The extremes of daylight are amplified by the Sun opposing Pluto. For some time now, Pluto has figured prominently in the cardinal ingresses, and this one is no exception. When Pluto is in Capricorn the underworld is exposed to the outer world, and opposed by the Sun in Cancer, the very foundation of our existence is in the spotlight. Secure nest vs. secure status, the family vs. career, private vs. public - all these themes are highlighted, challenged and forced to change. Many companies will close their doors, unable to continue trading without a solid foundation under them. We've seen a lot of that already but we will see a lot more, as well as downsizing and internal restructuring. Companies who have had the foresight and developed long-range plans are more likely to withstand the changing global economy. Some larger businesses will swell to gargantuan proportions creating super-corporations. Unfortunately, they will swallow up family-run and small businesses and we will see these super-corporations fast becoming the new 'family' structure.
Saturn in 8th rules the Ingress. Joint enterprises, investments and business partnerships, as well as issues of life and death are highlighted during this period. A period of learning is ahead, with the purpose of building on what is shared with others. Conversely, going solo can bring limitations to spending. Wherever Saturn sits there is a concentration of energy and the need to make a commitment. In this case it is about pooling resources and learning to work with and trust others. We may also see the death of someone prominent or important in the Australian psyche. And of course this may bring a deep sense of sadness but it may also strengthen our resolve to forge forwards.

Apart from the Solar opposition to Pluto, the whole of humanity is under the spell of a potent T-square. Pluto is at the apex squaring Saturn and Jupiter-Uranus. It has been building in effect and will peak from the end of July to early August. At this time, Mars and Venus will flank Saturn, the Moon will oppose Pluto to create a complex dynamic involving 6 planets. As you can imagine, it is potent and undeniably life changing in effect. Anyone with planets in early degrees of cardinal signs will be strongly affected, and of course we will all be indirectly affected by those around us, as well by local and global events. What does it all mean, you ask? That's not an easy question to answer but we can speculate on the effects of each aspect and then take time to reflect on the dynamic as a whole.
Moon opposing Pluto: intense emotional reactions to others. Venus square Pluto: intensity within relationships. Mars square Pluto: confrontation and friction. Jupiter square Pluto: ambition and striving for success. Saturn square Pluto: the breakdown of structures. Uranus square Pluto: the revolutionary. Jupiter-Uranus square Pluto: striving for knowledge and understanding. Venus-Saturn-Mars square Pluto: the end of a relationship. Altogether it makes for intense / future-seeking / expansive / dynamic / magnetic / reactive / transformative times.
A lunar eclipse occurs June 26 at 5 Capricorn, exactly conjunct Pluto and square to Jupiter-Uranus. The Sabian Symbol for 5 Capricorn is "Indians on the Warpath ..." Moon-Pluto brings intense emotional experiences to the surface so they can be dealt with, once and for all. Eclipse energy indicates the unfolding of significant events, usually on a mundane level. For Australia, the eclipse is on the Sun. The 'king' will be intensely affected and transformed by feminine power and control (conj Saturn). Square Jupiter-Uranus it will come out of nowhere and there will be a "thank the lord" feeling associated with the change. Saturn rules our midheaven so a power struggle is the most obvious expression of the energy and it will be swift and signal the death or end of something (or someone). Australia's future is undergoing change that arises from deep in our psyche. The events will help to reveal our true feelings about our government and the person in charge. Capricorn energy is concerned with hierarchy and structure, is minimalist in action, likes to follow procedure, but will take calculated risks. Combine all this with an eclipse and the feminine comes to the fore, from the depths of the underworld, to reclaim her power.
12 July features a total Solar Eclipse at 20 Cancer, in the first house. This house describes the condition of the nation and its population, and the collective national character. Gemini is quick-thinking, versatile, and a good networker. A new found curiosity will encourage an air of communication and a light-hearted sense of fun. The Sabian Symbol for 20 Cancer is "Venetian Gondoliers giving a Serenade". It is a time of celebration and paying respect for the finer things of life.
In all, a dynamic 3 months ahead, with change for the better.
